Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2025 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA records show 2 recalls associated with this model: one affecting the engine valve springs and one for an owner’s manual clarification. The engine recall notes valve spring fractures that can cause an engine malfunction or stall, increasing crash risk; the owner’s manual recall corrects inaccurate occupant classification/air bag information. Both recalls are listed by the NHTSA and are eligible for free remedy under the manufacturer programs; dealers replace valve springs and Subaru will mail corrected manuals at no cost. If you want us to confirm your vehicle’s status, schedule service and our factory-trained technicians will verify recalls at no charge.
How do I check if my 2025 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check recalls by VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to a dealer for a free check. Visit NHTSA.gov and enter your 17-character VIN, or call our service team at Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton for a complimentary VIN check and guidance. We use OEM diagnostic tools and the latest manufacturer bulletins to confirm open recalls and advise on next steps. If you prefer in-person help, schedule service with Mike Shaw Subaru and we will confirm recalls and arrange repairs free of charge.
How much does a 2025 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed at no cost to the customer; the price is $0 for covered recall repairs. This includes parts, labor, and any required inspection related to the recall remedy when completed by an authorized Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. We also offer service specials and transparent scheduling to minimize disruption; see our service specials for additional maintenance offers. If you need help covering non-recall repairs at the same visit, Mike Shaw Subaru offers service financing so you can get service now and pay later.
Can I get my 2025 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a certified franchise dealer to guarantee OEM parts, manufacturer warranty tracking, and an authorized remedy at no charge. Independent shops may be skilled, but only a franchised Subaru dealer ensures factory-authorized parts, access to official repair procedures, and free recall coverage from Subaru of America. Mike Shaw Subaru is a certified Subaru franchise in Thornton with factory-trained technicians who perform recall work using OEM parts and Subaru diagnostic tools. To ensure the recall is handled correctly and logged with Subaru, schedule appointment with our service team today.
How long does a 2025 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many manufacturer recall repairs take between one hour and a full day depending on parts availability and the remedy required. The valve spring replacement can require engine work and scheduling, while receipt of a corrected owner’s manual is a mail delivery; our team will provide a clear estimate when you arrive. We prioritize safety and quick turnaround; when parts are available we complete recall work as efficiently as possible and offer loaner options when needed. Please schedule service so we can confirm expected duration and accommodate your visit; service financing is available for any non-recall work added to the visit.
Does an open recall affect my 2025 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
Yes. An unresolved recall can lower resale or trade-in value because dealers and buyers may view the vehicle as unsafe or not fully maintained. Many buyers and wholesale appraisers check NHTSA recall status before purchase; resolving recalls at a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru protects value and buyer confidence. We can complete recall repairs for free and provide documentation showing the remedy was performed at our dealership to preserve your vehicle’s marketability. When you’re ready to sell or trade, visit our trade appraisal page at sell your car online to see how resolved recalls improve offers.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2025 Subaru BRZ recall?
While most recalls do not directly cause inspection failure, safety-related recalls (like an engine stall risk) can lead to operational issues that may cause a vehicle to fail inspection. Unaddressed recalls that affect airbag systems or engine reliability may create safety concerns that compromise inspection outcomes or insurance claims in the event of an incident. For peace of mind and regulatory compliance, have open recalls addressed by a certified dealer — Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton will repair recalls free of charge and document the remedy. To avoid inspection or insurance problems, schedule service now and ask about service financing if you need additional non-recall work at the same visit.
