Frequently Asked Questions

12 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Subaru Legacy?
The NHTSA has issued 36 recall records affecting the 2016 Subaru Legacy covering systems such as airbags, transmission, steering, software, driveshaft and more. Key consumer issues reported include potentially explosive passenger air bag inflators, transmission oil leaks that could create a fire risk, steering column machining defects that can reduce steering control, and software or camera display failures that affect rearview visibility. Mike Shaw Subaru can confirm which of these apply to your VIN and provide the free remedy — schedule service online now.
How do I check if my 2016 Subaru Legacy has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru for a free recall check. Provide your VIN when you schedule appointment and our team will verify NHTSA records and explain any open campaigns. We also post active offers and maintenance coupons on our service specials page.
How much does a 2016 Subaru Legacy recall repair cost?
Recall repairs are free of charge to the vehicle owner when performed at an authorized Subaru dealer, including Mike Shaw Subaru. There is no out-of-pocket cost for manufacturer recall remedies; any parts and labor required by Subaru are covered. We offer service financing so you can get needed work done now and pay later if you choose additional non-recall repairs.
Can I get my 2016 Subaru Legacy recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall work must be completed or authorized by a Subaru dealer to ensure OEM procedures, parts, and warranty compliance.
