Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2026 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA record shows 2 recalls relevant to this model: an engine valve spring fracture risk and an inaccurate owner’s manual description of the passenger occupant classification system. The engine recall describes valve springs that may fracture and cause an engine malfunction or stall, increasing crash risk; the owner’s manual recall corrects airbag/occupant classification information that could affect occupant protection. These recalls are documented by NHTSA and list corrective actions such as valve spring replacement and mailing of corrected owner manuals. For details or manufacturer reference numbers you can review NHTSA records or contact Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614.
How do I check if my 2026 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check open recalls with your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru for a complimentary VIN recall check. Provide your VIN online at NHTSA.gov or call our service team; we will confirm whether recalls apply and explain next steps. If an open recall is found we will coordinate the repair at no cost under the manufacturer’s program — schedule service to have us check it for you. Mike Shaw Subaru uses factory diagnostic tools and OEM guidance to verify open recalls accurately for Thornton and the surrounding Denver-area communities.
How much does a 2026 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Recall repairs are performed free of charge by the manufacturer and authorized dealers, including Mike Shaw Subaru. Because these repairs are safety-related, Subaru covers parts and labor for applicable recalls; there is no customer charge for the recall remedy itself. If additional non-recall service is requested we offer transparent estimates, available service financing, and current service specials. Schedule your free recall work with our certified technicians by clicking to schedule service today.
Can I get my 2026 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs are provided free through authorized franchise dealers; to ensure manufacturer-paid remedy and OEM parts you should use a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. Independent shops cannot always perform manufacturer-covered recall repairs; using a franchise dealer guarantees factory-trained technicians, OEM parts, and eligibility for the manufacturer’s reimbursement program. Bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton to receive the recall remedy and documentation that preserves warranty and resale value. If you need assistance, schedule appointment and ask about our service financing options to get service now and pay later.
How long does a 2026 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Most recall repairs are completed in a single service visit, but actual time varies by recall type and parts availability. The valve spring replacement described in NHTSA records can require several hours depending on parts and technician workflow; corrected owner manuals may be mailed or provided quickly when available. We recommend contacting Mike Shaw Subaru to confirm turnaround and to schedule service—we will provide an estimated completion time when you book. Check current service specials for priority options and ask about service financing if needed.
Does an open recall affect my 2026 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can hurt trade-in and resale value because dealers and private buyers often verify recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru documents the repair with OEM records, which protects value and buyer confidence. We can complete recall repairs at no cost and provide paperwork to support resale or trade-in — visit our trade-in page to start: sell your car online. Scheduling recall service at Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton ensures safety, compliance, and maximum resale value for buyers in Thornton, Denver, Westminster, Northglenn, and Broomfield.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2026 Subaru BRZ recall?
State inspection rules vary, but safety-related open recalls can affect inspections or insurance claims in some jurisdictions. The engine valve spring recall highlighted in NHTSA records can cause engine stall, a condition inspectors or insurers may flag as a safety issue. Resolving recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru ensures the vehicle meets manufacturer safety requirements and reduces the risk of inspection or insurance complications. To avoid potential inspection issues, schedule service at our Thornton dealership; ask about our service financing to pay over time.
