Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2019 Subaru Ascent?
The NHTSA has issued 5 recalls affecting the 2019 Subaru Ascent: structure (missing B‑pillar spot welds), driveshaft bolts, transmission hydraulic sensor, PCV valve separation, and low pressure fuel pump failure. These recalls cover structural, drivetrain, transmission control, engine ventilation, and fuel system components that could increase crash risk or cause loss of power. All recall repairs are performed free of charge by Subaru and authorized dealers like Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO; to get help, schedule service online.
How do I check if my 2019 Subaru Ascent has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or call Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614; Mike Shaw Subaru can also check for you for free when you schedule appointment. When you bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru our factory-trained technicians will verify recall status using OEM diagnostic tools and confirm any required repairs at no cost. If you prefer, call our service team in Thornton, CO and we will confirm recall campaigns WTU-80, WUI-94, WUV-07, WUW-08, and WRD-20 for the 2019 Subaru Ascent and advise next steps.
How much does a 2019 Subaru Ascent recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2019 Subaru Ascent are free of charge under the manufacturer recall program. Repairs such as driveshaft assembly replacement or transmission reprogramming are performed at no cost to the owner when completed at an authorized Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. We also offer service financing options so you can get recommended non-recall service now and pay later; for recall repairs, Subaru covers parts and labor as noted in NHTSA records.
Can I get my 2019 Subaru Ascent recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized Subaru dealer to ensure OEM parts, warranty compliance and proper manufacturer documentation; we recommend visiting a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. Independent shops cannot always access Subaru reprogramming files, OEM replacement assemblies, or manufacturer-supplied remedial vehicles, so recalls involving structural replacement, driveshafts, or transmission assembly should be done at a certified dealer. To protect safety, warranty, and resale value, schedule service at Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO and ask about our current service specials.
How long does a 2019 Subaru Ascent recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign: inspections or reprogramming can take a few hours, while driveshaft or engine short block replacements can take a day or more; Mike Shaw Subaru will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service. For safety-critical fixes such as driveshaft replacement (WUI-94) or structural replacement for missing B‑pillar welds (WTU-80), we prioritize scheduling and will contact you as soon as parts or remedial vehicles are available. We use OEM parts and factory-trained technicians to ensure correct, documented repairs and to minimize downtime for customers in Thornton and surrounding communities.
Does an open recall affect my 2019 Subaru Ascent's trade-in or resale value?
Yes — unresolved recalls can reduce trade-in offers and complicate private resale because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records and dealer service history. Resolving recalls at a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru—using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians—protects resale value and provides documented proof of the recall repair. To protect value, bring your 2019 Subaru Ascent to Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO and start a trade appraisal after repairs are completed.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2019 Subaru Ascent recall?
While inspections vary by state, unresolved safety recalls can create regulatory or insurance complications and some states or buyers may require open recalls to be addressed before registration transfer or sale. Fixing recalls promptly at a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru removes that risk and ensures repairs are documented in manufacturer records and with NHTSA. If you’re in Thornton or nearby communities, schedule service and we’ll confirm inspection implications and complete any required recall repairs for free.
