8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2014 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls affecting the 2014 Subaru BRZ: an engine valve spring fracture recall and an owners manual correction affecting the front passenger occupant classification system. The engine recall (WTY-84) can cause valve springs to fracture and may lead to engine malfunction or stall; the owners manual recall corrects air bag/passenger classification information.
How do I check if my 2014 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle by VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring it to Mike Shaw Subaru for a free recall VIN check. If you prefer dealer support, schedule service and we will verify recalls using OEM diagnostic tools and factory databases.
How much does a 2014 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge when performed at a certified franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. Our shop uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; ask about our service financing so you can get service now and pay later if additional non-recall work is needed.
Can I get my 2014 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed under the manufacturer's program at an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and warranty compliance; Mike Shaw Subaru is your local certified Subaru dealer for recall repair near Thornton, CO. Independent shops cannot perform free manufacturer recall repairs; bring your VIN to our service center and we will perform the remedy at no cost.
How long does a 2014 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall; the valve spring replacement may require several hours while owner manual replacements are completed by mail; our team will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule appointment. We prioritize recall work and offer convenient scheduling and loaner options where available; check our current service specials for additional support.
Does an open recall affect my 2014 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may lower trade-in or resale value since many buyers and dealers verify recall status prior to purchase. Resolving recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru protects your vehicle value and streamlines trade-in; start an appraisal at our trade-in page after repairs are completed.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2014 Subaru BRZ recall?
Some states or safety inspections may flag unresolved safety recalls, and ignoring recalls can affect insurance coverage or inspections in certain situations.
