Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Subaru BRZ?
The NHTSA lists 2 recall entries related to BRZ models: an engine valve-spring fracture issue and an owner’s manual correction affecting occupant classification information. These records identify an engine component risk that can cause engine malfunction or stall and a separate owners manual clarification; both items are addressed by manufacturer recalls.
How do I check if my 2018 Subaru BRZ has an open recall?
You can check using your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru and we will check recall status for free. To confirm and promptly address any open item, schedule service online or call our service team in Thornton, CO.
How much does a 2018 Subaru BRZ recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the vehicle owner when the recall is valid through Subaru and a certified dealer completes the work. Mike Shaw Subaru performs recall work at no cost using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians; ask about our service financing via pre-approval if you need other non-recall services.
Can I get my 2018 Subaru BRZ recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs should be performed at a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts and factory-authorized procedures are used; Mike Shaw Subaru is your local certified Subaru dealer for recall repairs near Thornton, CO. Independent shops may not have factory diagnostic tools, Subaru-specific parts, or manufacturer authorization required for recall warranty repairs.
How long does a 2018 Subaru BRZ recall repair take?
Turnaround depends on the specific recall: manufacturer instructions range from quick updates to parts-replacement jobs; many recall repairs can be completed within a day when parts are in stock. To minimize wait time, schedule appointment online and check current service specials at service specials.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Subaru BRZ's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can reduce buyer confidence and may be flagged by some dealers or buyers during appraisal, potentially lowering trade-in or resale value. Resolving recalls at Mike Shaw Subaru protects value; get a free recall check and then visit our trade-in page for appraisal options.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Subaru BRZ recall?
Some safety-related recalls can affect inspection outcomes depending on state rules; unresolved safety items like an engine that can stall may increase risk during inspection or operation. If you are concerned, bring the vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO for a free recall check and to schedule service if needed; we also offer service financing through our pre-approval link.
