8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid?
The NHTSA has issued 4 recalls affecting the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid covering the brake light switch, forward collision avoidance (EyeSight) reprogramming, engine valve springs, and an electrical remote-start accessory issue. These recalls cover defects that can prevent brake lights from illuminating, impair automatic pre-collision braking, risk engine stalls from fractured valve springs, and allow some remote starters to run the engine inadvertently. All corrective actions are performed free of charge by Subaru dealers; specific recalls reference Subaru recall numbers WUE-90, WQS-54, WTY-84, and the RES key fob remedy. If you want to confirm or to arrange repairs, please schedule service with Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton, CO.
How do I check if my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle's recall status by entering the VIN at NHTSA.gov or by contacting Mike Shaw Subaru so we can check for you at no charge. NHTSA records list the 4 recalls noted above; our service advisors will verify your VIN against NHTSA and manufacturer databases and explain required repairs. Bring your VIN or call our service team and we will confirm open recalls and advise whether parts or reprogramming are needed. When you’re ready, schedule appointment online — we also honor available service specials and offer service financing.
How much does a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid are performed free of charge under the manufacturer recall program. Subaru reimburses the cost of parts and labor for these recall remedies when completed at a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. If you have any concerns about additional non-recall repairs, our advisors will separate complimentary recall work from any recommended maintenance and present clear options. To protect safety and warranty coverage, book a no-cost check and schedule service today; we also provide service financing to help with any unrelated repairs.
Can I get my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed at an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, manufacturer procedures, and warranty compliance; we strongly recommend having them done at Mike Shaw Subaru. Some independent shops cannot access Subaru factory software reprogramming or genuine Subaru parts required for certain remedies such as EyeSight reprogramming or valve spring replacement. Mike Shaw Subaru’s factory-trained technicians use OEM diagnostic tools and Subaru-approved procedures to ensure fixes are permanent and recorded in manufacturer systems. To ensure the repair is performed free of charge and properly documented, schedule service with us in Thornton, CO; service financing is available for non-recall needs.
How long does a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid recall repair take?
Repair times vary by recall: simple component replacements or reprogramming can take under two hours, while engine valve spring replacements typically require longer diagnostics and parts and may take a day or more. Mike Shaw Subaru will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service, and we’ll notify you if parts need ordering or additional work is identified. We prioritize safety repairs and will work to minimize your downtime with quick-check VIN lookups and efficient scheduling across Thornton and nearby Denver-area communities. If you need alternative transportation, ask our service team about courtesy options and available service specials during your visit.
Does an open recall affect my 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in offers and buyer confidence because dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA records before purchase. Having recall repairs completed at a certified dealership like Mike Shaw Subaru documents the fix with the manufacturer, preserving resale value and making the vehicle more marketable. If you plan to sell or trade your vehicle, we recommend resolving open recalls and obtaining documentation from our service team to present to buyers or appraisers. Start the process by visiting our trade-in appraisal page at https://www.mikeshawsubaru.com/sell-your-car-online.htm and schedule service to clear any open recalls.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hybrid recall?
Some safety-related recalls, such as brake light switch failures, can affect inspection outcomes if the vehicle’s safety systems are nonfunctional; unresolved recalls may lead to inspection failures in some states. Fixing recalls at a certified dealer ensures systems like brake lights and pre-collision braking are restored to factory standards, helping you pass safety inspections. Mike Shaw Subaru in Thornton will verify recall completion and provide service records that can be shown during inspections or to state agencies. If you’re concerned about a pending inspection, schedule appointment now to confirm and repair any open recall; we also honor current service specials and offer service financing.
