Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2023 Subaru Ascent?
The NHTSA record shows five recalls affecting certain Subaru Ascent vehicles; owners should check VIN-specific status. These notices cover structure (missing spot welds), driveshaft center support bolts, transmission hydraulic sensor, PCV valve separation, and low-pressure fuel pump failure — each defect can affect crash safety or cause loss of power. Although the listed recalls reference specific model years in NHTSA records (notably 2019 Ascent vehicles), owners of a 2023 Subaru Ascent should verify their VIN to confirm applicability through NHTSA and with our service team. For authoritative details, NHTSA recall numbers and summaries are the primary source; Mike Shaw Subaru can also check your VIN and explain any owner notifications you may have missed. If you want us to verify and schedule a remedy, schedule service online and our factory-trained technicians will inspect and perform any free manufacturer recall repairs.
How do I check if my 2023 Subaru Ascent has an open recall?
Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru and we will check it for free. You can also call Subaru customer service at 1-844-373-6614 for manufacturer confirmation, but the fastest local option is to schedule service with our recall team in Thornton, CO. We use OEM diagnostic tools and factory databases to ensure the VIN-specific recall history is complete and current before any work begins.
How much does a 2023 Subaru Ascent recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge when covered by the recall and performed at a certified Subaru dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru. If additional non-recall work is requested, we will provide an estimate; we also offer service financing so you can get necessary maintenance or repairs now and pay later. All recall parts and labor are handled at no cost under the recall program using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians.
Can I get my 2023 Subaru Ascent recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by a manufacturer-authorized facility to guarantee free service under Subaru's recall program; a franchise dealer like Mike Shaw Subaru is the proper choice. Independent shops may be qualified for some maintenance, but only an authorized Subaru dealer can perform official recall remedies and update manufacturer records and emissions/inspection paperwork where required. To protect safety, warranty status, and ensure repairs use OEM parts, schedule appointment at our dealership for recall service near Thornton, CO.
How long does a 2023 Subaru Ascent recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: some reprogramming or inspections take under an hour; part replacements or assembly swaps can take several hours to a day. For example, transmission reprogramming is typically quick while driveshaft or engine component replacements require longer scheduling and parts — our service team will give a time estimate when you schedule service. We prioritize safety repairs and offer convenient appointment slots; check current offers on our service specials page.
Does an open recall affect my 2023 Subaru Ascent's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect resale or trade-in value because dealers and buyers may require documentation showing recalls are addressed. Mike Shaw Subaru can perform free recall repairs and then provide documentation showing the recall was completed, protecting your vehicle’s value when you use our trade-in appraisal service. We recommend resolving recalls promptly to avoid inspection or sale delays and to maintain market value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2023 Subaru Ascent recall?
Some recalls affect safety-critical systems that could cause inspection or registration issues in certain states, so unresolved recalls may lead to failed inspections. Because recalls in NHTSA records cover items like structural welds, driveshaft integrity, fuel pumps, and engine components, addressing them promptly at a certified dealer avoids inspection complications and safety risks. Contact Mike Shaw Subaru to verify VIN status and schedule service to get recall work completed for free.
