Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2020 Subaru WRX?
The NHTSA lists 25 recall notices affecting WRX-related systems that may apply to the 2020 Subaru WRX, covering air bag inflators, turbocharger air intake ducts, ignition switches, brake systems, brake light switches, electrical subwoofer wiring, and forward-collision system software. These recalls include serious safety issues such as passenger air bag inflator ruptures (risk of shrapnel), turbo intake duct cracking (possible engine stall), and electrical shorts that could increase fire risk. If you want a quick check, our service team will look up your VIN and confirm open recalls free of charge — you can schedule appointment online.
How do I check if my 2020 Subaru WRX has an open recall?
Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov and our service system — we will confirm open recalls for the 2020 Subaru WRX at no charge. You can also call Subaru customer service at the numbers listed in NHTSA records for specific campaigns, but for fast local help in Thornton, contact Mike Shaw Subaru and we will verify and explain any required repairs. If you find an open recall, schedule service with us and ask about our service financing options so you can get necessary work done now and pay later.
How much does a 2020 Subaru WRX recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge to the customer and are covered by Subaru when the recall is confirmed for your 2020 Subaru WRX. Mike Shaw Subaru will complete recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost — this applies to the known recalls summarized by the NHTSA for WRX-related components. We also publish current service specials if additional non-recall maintenance is needed, and we offer service financing if you prefer to spread payments.
Can I get my 2020 Subaru WRX recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs should be performed by a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, correct software updates, and manufacturer tracking; Mike Shaw Subaru is the authorized Subaru dealer serving Thornton and the Denver metro area. While independent shops can perform many repairs, manufacturer recall campaigns require dealer confirmation and warranty-tracked repair records so that the repair is recorded with Subaru and the NHTSA. For convenience and safety, book a no-cost inspection with us to confirm and complete any recall items — schedule service online and ask about our service financing options.
How long does a 2020 Subaru WRX recall repair take?
Most recall repairs are completed within a few hours, though some parts availability or diagnostic steps can extend turnaround; typical dealer service time for components like air bag inflators or intake duct replacement ranges from 1–4 hours once parts and scheduling are confirmed. Mike Shaw Subaru prioritizes recalls and will provide an accurate timeframe when you schedule appointment; our factory-trained technicians use OEM tools to ensure repairs are correct and fast. If parts are required, we will advise on next steps and can help you find loaner options or coordinate service timing to minimize disruption to your day.
Does an open recall affect my 2020 Subaru WRX's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in or resale because many dealers and private buyers check NHTSA recall status before purchase; resolving recalls protects value and buyer confidence for your 2020 Subaru WRX. Mike Shaw Subaru will document completed recall repairs using OEM parts and factory service records, which helps maximize trade-in offers and resale value. To learn current appraisal value after recalls are addressed, visit our trade-in page at sell your car online or contact our finance team for a free evaluation.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2020 Subaru WRX recall?
State inspection rules vary; while many inspections focus on emissions and safety systems, an open recall itself is not always a direct inspection failure, but unresolved recall issues (like faulty brake lights or brake fluid leaks) can cause failure. Because the NHTSA recalls affecting WRX systems include brake light switches and brake-line corrosion risks, leaving recalls unaddressed could lead to failing a safety inspection or compromised insurance coverage in certain circumstances. Bring your vehicle to Mike Shaw Subaru for a free recall check and timely repairs — you can schedule service and ask about our service financing to manage any additional maintenance.
